COVID-19 Crisis Management Team Update 3/19/20

To our valued staff,

During this time of uncertainty, our goal is to assure CFC stakeholders (including and especially our staff) that we are working diligently to provide solutions that demonstrate responsible stewardship and care of both our people and the organization. Thus, the Christian Family Care Crisis Management Team is meeting every morning to discuss the evolving situations surrounding COVID-19 information and responses. We understand that everyone has questions and concerns, and we would like you to know that we continue to listen and discuss these items as well as try to anticipate and plan ahead.

Here are the recent updates:

  • Last night, the Families First Coronavirus Act was passed through the Senate and signed by the President. This Act addresses many topics related to our current COVID-19 pandemic, but there are two sections which directly affect employment in the form of FMLA expansions and Emergency Paid Sick Leave. We are putting together communication that will lay out the provisions under the Act and how this may affect you. The Act goes into affect starting April 2nd, and so you will hear more about this next week.
  • For those who are working at home more due to school closures and have children who are older and/or more independent, you can determine if it is feasible to provide general supervision of your children while also completing work tasks from home. For this option, you will need to work with your supervisor directly on specific tasks to complete and your availability while at home.
  • If your ability to work your normal schedule is impacted by school closures and you need to fill gaps in your telework schedule, you may use your available sick and/or vacation time as needed.
  • Update for DCS contractor services. The department has scheduled a conference call with providers to discuss the current pandemic situation and discuss any issue we are experiencing in the field. CFC has also submitted a plan for alternate supervision of homes, and we are waiting for approval from the Department. This alternative supervision plan will allow us to use strategies which will allow Foster Care Specialists to monitor homes without physically entering the home.

Please feel free to reach out to any member of the Crisis Management Team with questions.

Thank you,

Your Crisis Management Team
