Christian Family Care – TEN:24

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds"Hebrews 10:24

Charged Up

If you are like me you depend a lot on your cell phone. It’s a tool I actively use. While sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office recently I was able to get through a ton of emails and review conversations on Workplace.  In route, I called a donor (hands free according to policy) and I sent a text to Colleen on an issue we are working on (was that at a red light or …. I forget). I even searched information on the web for a project I am working on. I also watched a sample of a video Gary and Kayla are producing on Life Changers. My cell phone is used constantly and it is a productive tool for me, but in order for it to be effective it needs to be charged up every night so it is ready in the morning.

A.W. Tozer says in Faith Beyond Reason, “Unquestionably, part of our failure today is religious activity that is not preceded by aloneness, by inactivity. I mean getting alone with God and waiting in silence and quietness until we are charged with God’s Spirit.” Just as my cell phone needs some alone time, some time of inactivity, we also need some time alone with God. We need time when we are just listening and reflecting on Him. King David in Psalm 62 says often, “My soul waits in silence for God only” and “Once God has spoken, twice I have heard this, that Power belongs to God.”

We will be most effective in achieving our goals for Christian Family Care if we are charged up, filled with the Power of God to accomplish His mission. Let me encourage you to get alone, rest, orchestrate time of inactivity into your life before you start your day at CFC. Let God charge you up.
